Seismic site classification and characterization of the top 100 feet of ground is required by the New York State Building Code. We have found that performing refraction-microtremor geophysical surveys is the most cost effective method to characterize a site for seismic site classification. The Re-Mi survey produces a 1-D or 2-D shear wave velocity profile of the site quickly and is non-invasive.
We also perform liquefaction analyses as required by the building code, and design ground modification techniques that can mitigate liquefaction at susceptible sites.
